History:

In 1500 Pedro Alvares Cabral from Portugal invaded Brazil and brought the language and their christian religion over. The Portuguese harvested wood and other materials back to portugal, and in 1532 they started to colonize and build towns and major cities.
Approximately 30 years later in 1808 the Portuguese fled to Rio de Janeiro during the Napoleonic Wars. The Portuguese soon claimed Brazil once again with João as their leader. In Sept. 7, 1822, was the independence of Brazil from Portugal, were Pedro 1, a Brazilian, became ruler. But in 1831 Pedro's five year old son, Pedro 2 became the ruled. Citizens of brazil decided Pedro 2 was not eligible to rule, thus in 1889 Brazil was under military control. The current president Dilma Rousseff shewas elected in 2011 and one of the most famous people
in Brazil,particularly because she is women president. Brazil is currently a Federal Republic country.
